Prospects opens pre-schools in Leicester
Earlier in the year Prospects Early Years were successful in a bid to takeover four pre-schools from Leicester City Council. We began working on this project in April 2017 and officially re-opened the pre-schools under the Prospects name on 24 August 2017.
The pre-schools are based in their own buildings on school sites. Judith Chinnery has been working closely with the staff and schools to ensure that children and parents have settled into the new term smoothly.
Judith comments: “All the children are aged between two and five years, they are always enthusiastic and no day is the same. During our first week some of the young children found two rather large toads in the garden which, of course, caused a lot of squealing from both the children and the staff, as well as, lots of discussion.”
Shanti Flynn, Director of Early Years Services, comments: “We are looking forward to developing the pre-schools, opening for more hours and providing more support for parents as they take up employment. We are participating in the government’s funding scheme to provide 30 hours of free childcare. This is a challenge for us but a real lifeline for struggling families and means many more parents can get back into work.”
The Prospects Pre-schools are: Magpie Pre-school based at Eyres Monsell Primary School; Heatherbrook Pre-school based at Heatherbrook Primary Academy; Sandfield Pre-school based at Sandfield Close Primary; and Spice Pre-school based at Merrydale Infants.
