Go4it

Prospects provides a range of targeted support services.

Go4it targets teenage parents (male and female) and care leavers across London through personalised support into work, apprenticeships or training. Now in its second year, Go4it has helped over 58% of the young people in the project to remain in education, employment or training, one of the most successful projects of its kind.

Young people have their own adviser who works closely with them to prepare them for the right employment, study and training options. Work and college tasters are offered and funding is available through the Go4it Fund or a Go4it bursary.  Young parents are also given help in finding child care.

This is one of the largest European Social Fund (ESF) projects Prospects has ever carried out. During the life of the project, which will operate until December 2014 supporting hundreds of young people across London who  will be moved from NEET into sustained education, employment or training for a minimum of 26 weeks (two terms in education) with retention support to aid achievement and positive transition.

Nanette Higgins, Prospects Go4it Programme Manager, said, "This is a major ESF contract, working across London, where we will help as many vulnerable young people as possible. We aim to place participants into education, employment or apprenticeships, liaising closely with providers to ensure that young people receive the after- care support they need to sustain the placement. We also offer retention support when young people move into education, employment or training as this is a key factor to young peoples success.

Go4it will offers;

  • An individually tailored programme of support and skills development for young people, working with local agencies through briefings, events and meetings.

  • Networking and developing effective working relationships with local authorities to identify young people who are appropriate for the Go4it programme, to encourage referrals.
