Prospects gains Information Security Standard – 17/10/11

Following an external assessment of the Bromley, Bradford and Castlemill sites, Prospects has been judged to have reached the ISO 27001 standard for information security.

Head of Performance Management, Antony Pearce, said, “This is a massive achievement for the company as information security is critical in contract decisions for many government departments. There is much more work to be done as we roll the standard out across the group; we will be subject to regular external audits to ensure we are maintaining the standard. I’d like to thank everybody who has worked on this, and all staff for helping with the audit. The auditor frequently commented on how knowledgeable and helpful staff were.”

Managing Director, Vincent McDonnell, praised all staff involved and said; “We would not have achieved the standard without the significant contribution you have all made over recent months. Your willingness to work with us in reviewing and developing new practices to meet the standard has been invaluable. I know you will want to join me in thanking Jane Fall, Steven Macciolli, Dave Mills and Antony Pearce for their commitment and relentless persistence in supporting us all as we travelled the ISO 27001 journey.”

ISO 27001 is the best practice specification that helps businesses and organisations throughout the world to develop a best-in-class Information Security Management System. It is a systematic approach to managing confidential or sensitive corporate information so that it remains secure, and encompasses people, processes and IT systems.

Information security is not just about anti-virus software, implementing the latest firewall or locking down your laptops or web servers, but is a strategic approach to developing the overall effectiveness of an organisation.
