Across the UK, nextstep is working with Connexions to offer free help to people searching for jobs or to those wanting to get back into work, assisting adult job seekers with careers advice and guidance. nextstep services delivered by Prospects Services include the prime contract to manage and deliver the Careers Information and Advice Service branded as nextstep across Greater London, as well as, in the West Midlands, Hereford & Worcester and working in partnership in Yorkshire and the Humber.
Individuals aged 20 plus, unemployed, looking for a change of career or facing the threat of redundancy are all eligible for support.
Regional Manager for London, Sharon Scott said: "We can provide free impartial services to people wanting to improve their opportunities during 2010. There are a number of options available to people and we are delighted to be able to assist them in their next steps to their chosen careers.”
In the current economic climate looking for employment can be a very difficult process. Job seekers may have never needed to promote their skills before, or to produce a CV. This is where nextstep can help, with accessible impartial careers advice, support with applications, CV writing and interview training, which can really make the difference in getting that coveted job.
Advisers are flexible in their approach and can meet clients at local venues to suit them, such as Connexions offices, colleges, libraries, health centres and local job centres. Advisers are based in every Job Centre Plus area in London and also provide the ‘Response to Redundancy’ Programme across South London.
