National Careers Service helped Ivan find work
Ivan contacted the National Careers Service for help finding work. He was about to complete his degree and was worried about finding employment afterwards.
Ivan visited his local Jobcentre, which referred him to the National Careers Service adviser based there.
The adviser suggested that he should apply for IT development roles after completing his degree, and that in the meantime he could gain relevant experience by applying for IT support roles.
The adviser suggested how Ivan could improve his CV, to present himself in the best possible light. Ivan completed an action plan with the adviser, which set him long and short term career goals. They then planned how he would achieve these.
After seeing the National Careers Service adviser, Ivan amended his CV and began matching it to the job descriptions of roles for which he was applying. He soon secured a job as an IT Desk Support Technician in a large IT company. The role offers progression and training.
The new National Careers Service contracts Prospects will be delivering from October, in London, West Midlands, South West, and as part of Careers in Yorkshire and the Humber, a consortium that delivers the programme for the region, will enable us to help more people like Ivan find sustainable employment.
