Halesowen College gets Gold!
Holly Lodge High School / College of Science in Smethwick was accredited with the Award at the Board meeting in May. Assessors noted that the strengths of careers provision included embedded review and development planning; a comprehensive and impartial careers curriculum, and an enthusiastic, well-supported co-ordinator with a forward looking agenda.
Halesowen College was re-accredited with the Award - and once again, their submission was deemed to be of exceptional quality. The Accreditation Board had no hesitation in making the Award at the highest level, noting examples of outstanding practice. Testimony from students seen during the Assessment Visit confirmed the high value they put on the work of the qualified and enthusiastic careers team - seen widely to be an integral part of college life and the curriculum.
Michele Squire and Sue Thacker from the CEIAG Team visited to hand over certificates. They spoke to team members Deborah Maley and Debbie Wall who said that they found the self-assessment process very clear and straightforward, and appreciated the option to submit their portfolio electronically. They enthused about the reaction from the rest of the college to the news of the Award - they have been feted during staff meetings and were also asked about it during a recent Ofsted inspection.
