Young people invited to specialist careers event
Young people aged 16–19 in Bexley are being invited to attend an interactive exhibition at Bexley Youth Advice on Thursday 4th July between 11am and 4pm, where they can sign up for college and apprenticeship places, meet local employers, find out about training opportunities and take part in workshops to help them become work ready.
The event is being organised by Prospects on behalf of the London Borough of Bexley.
Young people will be able to sign up to secure places on college courses, apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships or the Youth Contract on the spot. Any young person who is not sure what they will be doing next year, is not in education/training/employment or who would like information and advice on how to progress their career can come along to speak to Prospects advisers. Local employers will also be there to meet young people and discuss vacancies.
Visitors will have the opportunity to win prizes such as free meals, haircuts and beauty treatments, cinema tickets for local cinema, Cineworld, and bowling games.
Operations Manager, John Taylor, said, "Finding out where to turn to get help with making decisions on what career would suit you, and where you can get training or learn new skills, can be daunting for young people, which is why we have organised this event. It has been designed to be informal and inspiring, with experts on hand to help young people make the best decisions for their future. It's also fantastic so many apprenticeship and training providers and colleges are able to attend and sign interested young people up on the spot. We hope young people who visit will leave with a better idea of where they want their future and career to take them."
