MOTEV8-ing young people to find a career
Earlier in May, an event was held at Prospects Loughborough centre to promote a new European Social Fund (ESF) project, MOTEV8, which Prospects is providing in Leicestershire alongside the Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) contract we deliver on behalf of the county council. MOTEV8 complements the NEET contract and provides an opportunity for young people to increase their confidence, improve self-esteem, gain vocational skills and, supported by Prospects, progress on to a college course or apprenticeship which will help them reach their career aspiration.
Training providers and subcontractors were invited to attend the event to introduce activities they offer and meet young people. They provided ‘hands on’ activities for young people to try, including music production, craft activities, nail art, football skills and sparring/boxing. Local celebrity boxer Rendall Munroe, pictured with Grahame Chambers of Aim Higher Coaching, one of Prospects subcontractors on MOTEV8, was there to meet young people and talk to them about careers in sports.
Jasbinder Bhoot, Operations Manager for Prospects Leicestershire, said: “This event has helped raise the profile of MOTEV8, and demonstrated the support available for NEET young people to help them progress into education, training and employment and find a fulfilling career. It was great to have Rendall there, along with our partners, to talk to the young people about the variety of careers available to them.”
