National Careers Service events for Adult Learners' Week
The Prospects National Careers Service London team took part in several events during Adult Learners' Week, last week.
Staff members Simi Mand and Julie Watts visited Swiss Cottage Library, where they spent the day signposting customers to the service. Customers were given a demonstration of the national website and told how they could access the service in their local area.
London Probation Trust (LPT) ran an event for staff and customers at their base in London Victoria. National Careers Service Adviser Trudy Nieto and Administrator Sihle Kelly were there to explain NCS support available and how it could be accessed. Also present at the event were Unionlearn, Lewisham College and Napo. Trudy offered one-to-one appointments throughout the day, organised future CV and Interview Skills workshops at this venue and liaised with LPT staff about referring their customers.
National Careers Service Advisers Tracy Alexander and Claudia Lashley attended an Adult Learners' Week event at Westminster Adult Education College. They provided CV and Interview Skills workshops for students and offered one-to-one sessions for anyone requiring individual support and advice. Cece Kelly was also present to tell students about the service and where it was available outside the college. Customers were given action plans detailing what they had learned from the workshops and how they could contact the National Careers Service in the future.
Following a busy and successful week of events, National Careers Service Adviser Trudy Nieto commented, "Adult Learners' Week was an excellent opportunity for us to promote the National Careers Service, offer support to those needing it, remind people they can train to improve their careers prospects or find suitable work, and provide information and guidance to help them do so."
