Optimus Education hosts successful MATs Summit

On Thursday 12 and Friday 13 October, the Optimus Education flagship event, the MATs Summit took place at the De Vere Water Park Hotel in the Cotswolds.

Now in its third year, the MATs Summit is a two-day residential conference designed exclusively for multi-academy trust leaders. Providing the opportunity to network with peers nationally, hear from key educational practitioners and attend timely focused workshops, the conference welcomed 185 delegates, the best attendance yet.

Chairing the conference, Laura McInerney, Editor of Schools Week, set the daily objectives and key learnings. Sir David Carter, National Schools Commissioner, led a valuable keynote on MAT growth and the main priorities for school improvement, whilst Stephen Morales, Chief Executive of the National Association of School Business Management, and Tom Clark, CBE FRSA, Chair of the Board of FASNA, the Freedom and Autonomy for Schools - National Association, discussed the future of MAT finances.  With a total of 40 speakers, the event’s breakout sessions focused on everything from school improvement and leadership structure through to communication and collaboration.

This year, the MATs Summit welcomed 27 exhibiting organisations to the dedicated exhibitor lounge; providing information on supply teacher recruitment through to building services. A further 12 sponsors also supported the drinks, dinner, bags, lanyards and other promotional opportunities.

The highly acclaimed gala dinner provided attendees the time to network and relax over a three-course dinner, whilst enjoying hilarious entertainment provided by comedian, Jo Caulfield.
With the success of the event ringing clearly in everyone’s ears, the team are already looking to making the MATs Summit 2018 an even greater success!
