Employment Plus Open Day

Prospects held two open days across London at the end of May to engage with the local communities in Southwark and East London about the Employment Plus Programme. The programme supports in-work progression for those in low paid work.

The open days were set up so everyone could hear about this European Social Funded (ESF) programme which supports working Londoners with mentoring, coaching, regulated and non-regulated training. The aims is to improve their skills and boost their pay, ideally to or towards the London Living Wage!

On Monday 24 May Barking and Dagenham College hosted the first open day which was a great event on a bright sunny day. It brought Prospects and the large team of subcontractors who are collectively delivering Employment Plus including Prevista, Barking and Dagenham College, New City College, Gateway Education and CNN Training together as one team to support residents in North & East London to boost career progression. Qualified advisers provided outreach support all day and goodie bags were given to each resident who attended. Attendees were also entered into a raffle with a chance to win some great prizes! Prospects National Careers Service advisers were also on hand to support unemployed residents who attended the event – a great example of joint working across different Prospects contracts.

It was another sunny day on Friday 26 May when Prospects and other sub-contractors opened their doors at Etc Venues. The Prospects team across Elephant and Castle and Borough created a buzz about the programme and provided much needed outreach all day! The event was well attended by local residents who were delighted with this provision being available and a light, refreshing and engaged atmosphere ensued all day! Follow up appointments were made for residents with teams of dedicated employment advisers. Prizes were again offered and a goodie bag prepared for attendees to take home.

The open days succeeded in championing this trailblazing programme for working people, and in boosting morale by letting Londoners know Prospects is there to support people with real career progression.

Prospects is looking to hold more events like these in the future so if you would like to support Employment Plus at these events by referring your working clients to these events please contact
