Tackling the issues

Prospects are holding a monthly walking football session. Taunton Deane’s Mayor, Vivienne Stock-Williams, came along and joined in with the first session. She talked to the footballers, who are a mix of Prospects colleagues and the individuals they support as part of the government’s Work Programme.

Walking football not only benefits everyone involved but also the community, by bringing people together. Getting people out and about and working together as a team builds confidence and self esteem, vital to improve wellbeing.

Working together as a team and building confidence are key skills employers look for, these are also things that that help give us all a sense of purpose. As well as having some fun and getting out in the fresh air, walking football brings the community closer together, providing friendships and networks you can look to for support, helping us move forward in our lives.

You do not have to be physically fit to take part as there is no running involved, the purpose is to have fun and make friends. If you are interested in taking part, speak to your Key Worker or for more information on the work that Prospects does visit:
