Cabinet Office visit the National Careers Service
On the 7th of January members of the Cabinet Office, Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Skills Funding Agency came to visit the National Careers Service London team at the Prospects Head Office. The purpose of the visit was to look at how the current delivery model is particularly helping young people up to the age of 24 and its position within the wider landscape of careers support available.
The team were specifically interested to see how Prospects and their sub-contractors work with local partners such as Jobcentre Plus in co-location, colleges, schools, LEPs, charities and other social enterprises. Prospects also wanted to demonstrate the strong partnerships formed and therefore invited three subcontractors that deliver the service: GGT Solutions, GSS and Krypton Training and Bromley College.
Part of the visit included observing a face to face session with an adviser based at Bromley Jobcentre. Moray Watson from the Cabinet Office was impressed with the service and support provided.
The feedback from the Cabinet Office and BIS was very positive. Janice Pigott, the Regional Director for the National Careers Service in London, commented:
“The Minister has set out his vision for Inspiration, and the Cabinet Office team were therefore keen to see how the National Careers Service will be shaping up to support the vision. We gave some good examples of the work that goes on and also proposed how things could be improved in the future.”
