35 parents from China embark on the ultimate school visit

26 April 2013

35 high net-worth parents from China are embarking on the ultimate school visit by flying 5000 miles to tour a selection of premier British independent schools in the UK as part of a programme organised by Gabbitas, the country’s leading independent education consultancy established in 1873, part of the Prospects Group.

The exclusive educational tour takes place between Tuesday 23 April and Saturday 27 April. During their stay in the UK, parents will visit a number of top independent schools across southern England including Eton College, Caldicott School, The Dragon School, Kingswood School, Dulwich College, Whitgift School and Abingdon School. Parents will have the opportunity to meet Headteachers, current pupils and staff, as well as looking around the schools themselves.

There will be an opportunity to visit other major cultural sites including Oxford University and the Roman Baths in Bath as well as some of London’s leading luxury shopping establishments such as taking part in a diamond master class at Asprey's, and VIP shopping at Selfridges. These have been organised by our partner New Chapters who offer highly exclusive British cultural experiences.

In addition to the tours, parents will learn from Gabbitas about the UK education system and receive specific advice on choosing the right school for their child. They will also have the opportunity to meet a Gabbitas Guardianship family, whose home is the spectacular Sedgwick Park House, set within 100 acres of the West Sussex countryside.

Ian Hunt, Managing Director of Gabbitas, said: “The Chinese economy continues to grow at an incredible rate compared to the rest of the world and especially the west. Every day, more and more Chinese families are able to afford an overseas education. With a growing dissatisfaction in their own education system, many are looking towards the UK independent system which is still regarded as the very best in the world. With an increasing capacity to pay, and a likelihood (but not always) that they are supporting only one child, increasing numbers of Chinese families are willing to make that investment in their child's future in the UK.”

He continued: “Choosing a school for your child is a vital decision which will have repercussions for the rest of their life. This tour allows these parents the chance to make informed decisions based upon what they see at the schools, supported by our independent advice. The UK independent school system is still regarded as the gold standard in world education and the popularity of this trip confirms that it is very much the destination of choice for many families from China. During the tour, parents have the opportunity to visit one of our guardian families and see the typical surroundings in which their children will be placed. We have been delighted to spend time with the parents this week and we look forward to supporting the whole family through the academic journey that they are about to embark upon.”
