Skills Scotland is another Prospects Events success
This week the final Skills Scotland event took place in Glasgow. The Skills Scotland Edinburgh and Aberdeen events took place the week before. Skills Scotland events are organised by Prospects Events, part of the Prospects Group, and supported by the Scottish Government and Skills Development Scotland.
Skills Scotland events are inspirational, careers and skills festivals for anyone aged 14-19. Skills Scotland motivates students with interactive features, Get Skilled learning, demonstration hubs and a diverse range of companies.
The Skills Scotland Aberdeen and Edinburgh events had over 4,500 visitors including Angela Constance MSP, the Minister for Youth Employment who came along to the Edinburgh event and enjoyed some of the interactive features including soil analysis tests and bricklaying. Scotland is the only country in the EU with a dedicated Minister for Youth Employment and since Angela was appointed in December 2011 youth unemployment has fallen from 25.4% to 15.2%.
Prospects Events also organises Skills London, in partnership with London First and supported by the Mayor of London, the National Apprenticeship Service and the National Careers Service. Skills London takes place at ExCeL on 22 & 23 November 2013. It is London's biggest jobs and careers event with over 35,000 jobs, including Apprenticeships, on offer, attracting 30,000 visitors and featuring more than 130 exhibitors, a full range of hands on Get Skilled stands plus information, advice and guidance. If you work with young people in London and the South East why not recommend they attend Skills London to inspire them as they make their career choices.
