Students find out about jobs in the city
Prospects in the City's October 2013 Finance and Law 'Careers in Practice' events were another great success! Students took part in two days of intensive City visits and presentations, providing them with a unique opportunity to improve their chances of entering the finance and law sectors, which are traditionally difficult to access.
On the Finance course the programme included visits to various organisations and institutions in the City; banks, accountants, a business school and an open outcry trading floor. Law students visited prestigious law firms, the Old Bailey, Royal Courts of Justice, and Garden Court Barristers Chambers. Both courses gave students invaluable insight into the sectors from the employers' perspective, and the opportunity to hear from many speakers, in a range of settings, informing them about routes into work, opportunities and jobs, Higher Education and life in the City in general. They also took part in skills sessions covering CV and personal statement writing, soft skills and interview techniques.
One student said, "The course has definitely helped with my career decisions. I feel motivated and better informed about going into finance."
Prospects in the City has already started to plan the December Finance and Law 'Careers in Practice' courses and these will be held on:
Finance - 17th and 18th December 2013
Law - 19th and 20th December 2013
