#GCSEResultsDay - Sally supports Phoebe after her exams

25 August 2016

Today’s article sees Prospects adviser Sally, from Wakefield Connexions, support Phoebe* through a difficult time.

Last year Prospects Phoebe came to Prospects after she got her GCSE results. Unfortunately, she had not done as well as expected, and had achieved mainly D grades including maths and English, and a C grade in ICT.

Before the results Phoebe had received an offer from a local college to study Level 3 in computer games design/development. However, her results meant she did not meet the entry requirements of five GCSES at grade C or above including maths and English.

Phoebe was very upset and thought this would now mean she could no longer achieve her career aim to be a computer games developer. Sally and Phoebe discussed all her options including level 2 vocational courses at the original college in games design and a GCSE resit programme at another local college. Together they also explored apprenticeship options

.

Phoebe was still focused on full time education and Prospects arranged for her to see both colleges to discuss level 2 programmes. Phoebe decided to enrol on level 2 in games design at college and settled in really well. She has retaken her GCSE maths and English alongside the level 2 programme and is planning on starting level 3 this September and hopes to go to university in the longer term.

Like Phoebe, you may not know about all the different options so if you need more advice you can get help and impartial advice from Connexions Wakefield.

Personal advisers are based at City Limits in Thornhill Street. You can also get help online by visiting www.connexionswakefield.co.uk or calling 01924 371579.
