#lookback2015 - Two County Councils select Prospects for Early Years support
As 2016 begins, Prospects is looking back over 2015 and sharing some key successes. Each day, over the next week or so, as part of #lookback2015 you can read about Prospects achievements last year and gain insight into plans for 2016.
Today’s #lookback2015 focuses on Prospects work in the Early Years industry. In the spring of 2015 Prospects was selected to provide Early Years support for two county councils; Kent and Hampshire.
In Kent, Prospects will provide Childminding Development Support Services for the next three years. Roger Gough, Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Education said:
“We are looking forward to working with Prospects to ensure the provision of support for childminders in Kent. Childminders provide a vital service for children and their families and this contract will ensure that this service is of high quality.”
s part of Hampshire county council’s Improvement Support Programme, Prospects works with childminders and private, voluntary and independent nurseries and pre-schools. Councillor Peter Edgar, Executive Member for Education at Hampshire County Council, said: “We have a good track record for ensuring children at a young age are ready for school and for learning, enabling them to make good progress at school. We want to continue to make sure all children have the opportunity to succeed - improved outcomes for children are at the centre of our work. The service that Prospects will deliver to Hampshire’s childminders and early years settings will complement the range of support that Hampshire County Council’s Services for Young Children offers. The organisation will be required to build on the good work of the previously commissioned services of the Professional Association for Early Years (PACEY) and Childrens Links.”
Prospects has been providing a similar service for Medway Council, where childminders attained Good or Outstanding Ofsted inspection outcomes at twice the national rate. Prospects provides Early Years Quality Service for Pre-Schools in Southampton, since it began almost half of those inspected subsequently have received an improved Ofsted. This work complements Prospects Early Years Inspections on behalf of Ofsted in the Midlands and the North of England.
