Thousands to attend Skills London 2015
Today (13 November) thousands of young people are expected to attend Skills London, at ExCel London. The free event is organised by Prospects Events and London First, and supported by the Mayor of London, the National Careers Service, Apprenticeships and Traineeships, it is the biggest jobs and careers event for young people in the capital.
For 10 years Skills London has reached out and inspired London’s young people by showcasing careers, jobs and skills including apprenticeships, education, training, employment, internships and other options. This year Skills London has also been recognised as one way young people can achieve their 100 hours experience the world of work as part of London Ambitions.
Students from schools and colleges will have the opportunity to speak to employers about thousands of job opportunities in different industries including the armed forces, catering, construction, engineering, hospitality and the performing arts. Visitors can try work-related activities, including motor vehicle maintenance, DJing, 3D printing, cake decorating, bricklaying, movie making and code breaking to better understand what skills different jobs require. Attendees can also learn about education and training opportunities, including Apprenticeships.
