Prospects Moving London Forward helps capital's unemployed
Prospects Moving London Forward project has recently won glowing praise from DWP Jobcentre Plus advisers. The project, which started this January, is helping 1,000 jobseekers in danger of becoming long-term unemployed. It is delivered by the London Work Programme team from offices in Lewisham, Lambeth, Plumstead and Croydon.
Customers are being helped back to work through a thirteen week programme of tailored support, which addresses individual barriers to employment. Support includes basic skills assessments, employability and realistic job goal setting, money advice and access to job opportunities and training through Prospects and external providers.
Croydon JCP Adviser, Canakiah Dhavina, said, "One of my customers, Linda, was very impressed with the services/support she received from Prospects in the Moving Forward programme. Linda specifically named two members of staff who have given her back her confidence. So much so, she is now looking forward to starting full-time work with the Guinness Group soon, as cleaner/maintenance person."
