#mysummer – Gain work experience, just like Amber
Why not spend some of your summer holiday gaining work experience? It is a great way to learn more about different jobs, and discover which one could be right for you. They can help you learn new skills and understand what life could be like post education. Work experience also looks good on your personal statement or CV, demonstrating to admissions tutors and employers that you are serious about your future.
Amber joined the Prospects Sales and Marketing team on Tuesday (28 July) for the day to learn more about corporate marketing. The day involved learning about the different team roles, including copywriting, design, digital marketing and public relations. Amber completed real work activities, helping to create an inventory of marketing materials and designing logos for a project.
Amber said she enjoyed the work experience, and her highlights were “designing logos” and “meeting everybody”. When asked what job she wanted, Amber said: “definitely something in marketing.”
Stephanie Brain, Digital Marketing Manager, said: “Thanks to Amber for all her support during the day. We wanted Amber to truly understand our work so we didn’t let her make coffee or photocopy once! Instead, she helped us complete daily tasks and worked on real projects. I was impressed by her professionalism and attitude. I wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
The #mysummer campaign is run by Prospects, the education, employment and skills company, which gives young people awaiting their exam results advice on how to use their summer break to improve their employability and skills.
