#mysummer – Have fun and gain valuable skills at South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre
South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre has a range of exciting and challenging activities and events, which will help develop young people’s skills during the summer break.
South Cerney Outdoor, part of the Prospects Group, is on a 52 acres site in Cotswold Water Park in Gloucestershire. The centre has a large lake for water sports, open spaces and woods for land based activities, and onsite changing rooms, classrooms and stores. All activities are overseen by qualified, experienced and enthusiastic instructors, and all equipment is of a high-quality ensuring visitors’ time is fun, safe and challenging. The centre combines learning with exploring the great outdoors and encouraging an active lifestyle.
During the summer break it has a range of activities and events for young people of all abilities, from taster sessions to full courses. Activities include canoe and kayaking, sailing, stand-up paddling and windsurfing. There are also Multi-Activity Days, where young people can experience several different activities in a day.
The outdoor activities are fun and highly-interactive, but they also teach valuable skills, which are desirable to admissions tutors and employers. Completion of some courses leads to formal qualifications, which are required for related employment (e.g. sailing instructor). Participating in outdoor activities can develop confidence, leadership and team-building skills. It also helps improve people’s health and fitness.
Visit the South Cerney Outdoor website for more information on the summer activities and events.
