Skills London Exhibitor Masterclass

25 June 2015

More than 80 delegates from 50 organisations attended a Skills London Exhibitor Masterclass at the beginning of June. The event aimed to get new and existing companies who are involved in Skills London to prepare for their time at the event in November.

The event was chaired by Nikki Kelly, Head of Employment and Skills at Tottenham Hotspur, a key supporter of the Skills London annual event. She was joined by a panel of experts, Jenni Jaques, FaceTime Marketing Director at The Association of Event Organisers (AEO), Jen Delderfield, Event Manager at Prospects Events, Caroline Poole, Head of Recruitment & Admissions at Lambeth College, Scott Young, Education & Community Investment Executive at Tideway Tunnels, Pam Duke, Diversity Programme Manager at JLL and Tricia King, Resourcing Specialist at TfL.

The experts offered hints and tips on how to get the most out of exhibiting at Skills London. Critical to the success of an event like Skills London is getting the visitors, mostly young Londoners on a school trip, engaged. Many exhibitors at Skills London understand the visitors will be there for a host of reasons, and not always the right ones, and the need to attract their attention. Ensuring stands engage visitors by offering interactive features, hands on activities, visually appealing stands and most importantly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff is vital.

At the Masterclass employers were able to meet the Prospects Events support team and student ambassadors from Lambeth College who had a team of media make-up students demonstrating how to be interactive and involve visitors in Get Skilled demonstrations. The delegates that attended the Masterclass learned how a few simple plans go a long way to make exhibiting hugely successful and that the size of their budget was not the most important factor in engaging the audience.
