Government supports Quality Awards

17 April 2015

Quality AwardThe government recommends all schools work towards a quality award in careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG), of which Prospects is a provider, in new statutory guidance.

Careers guidance and inspiration in schools, published by the Department for Education, gives statutory guidance for governing bodies, school leaders and school staff, who must consider it when carrying out duties relating to careers guidance. The guidance recommends that all schools should work towards a quality award, considering it an effective self-review and evaluation methodology.

The Quality Award in CEIAG from Prospects is designed to accredit good practice and encourage development in schools, academies, colleges, special schools and smaller units. It is one of 12 awards meeting the national validation, the Quality in Careers Standard (QiCS). Quality awards lead to better careers and guidance programmes, increase senior managers’ and governors’ involvement, and demonstrate to outside organisations, including Ofsted, that schools provide high quality CEIAG.
65 schools and colleges have achieved or are working towards the Prospects Quality Award. Three schools and two colleges have achieved the highest level of attainment, with two more working towards the ‘gold standard’.

For more information about the awards email Sue Thacker, CEIAG Co-ordinator, or call 0121 521 2336,

Michele Squire, CEIAG Resources Manager, or call 0121 521 2324.
