18 March 2015

Earlier this month (Fri 6 March) Nicola Squibb, Regional Director in the South West, presented several categories at the Pride of Somerset Awards, an annual event celebrating local young people’s outstanding achievements.

The awards were organised by the Rotary Club of Taunton in partnership with the Bridgewater Mercury and BBC Somerset, and the ceremony was hosted at Somerset College, Taunton. Prospects was one of the sponsors.

The awards were given to local young people aged 10 plus whose achievements included contributing to their local communities, great sporting accomplishments, overcoming physical and learning difficulties and winning other awards such as the BAFTAs.

Nicola Squibb presented several awards, including to Mylie Gardner, deputy head girl at Bridgwater College Academy. In this role she organises teams to run daily games clubs and one-to-one peer mediating and mentoring sessions, which won a Diana Anti-Bullying Award and the 2013 Team Somerset Anne Frank Award. Mylie is also a band drum major, sea cadet and keen sailor, winning the 2014 Small Ships Race. She is about to finish her Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award.
