Prospects supports Welfare to Work UK Convention

26 July 2013

According to the most recent figures from the Department for Work and Pensions, the Work Programme is helping more people to find jobs through the government's flagship back-to-work scheme: 13.4% of people referred in the year to March 2013 found a sustained job compared with 3.4% in the same period the previous year.

As a prime and subcontractor for the Work Programme, Prospects played a key role in the Welfare to Work UK Convention which is a major annual event for the employment and training industry that took place last week at the Manchester Central Convention Complex.

Prospects exhibited at the event and, as one of the seminar sponsors, Prospects held a spirited session examining the most effective ways to help customers return to work, particularly those receiving Employment and Support Allowance and other clients with the greatest barriers to overcome. Colleagues Brenda Cabras, Debbie Pomeroy-Finch and Holly Findlay shared their experiences, developed through the Ascent delivery model, in encouraging jobseekers in the South West to develop skills.

Overall, the convention hosted over 50 seminars, breakout sessions and debates, one of which discussed the emerging justice market and was enthusiastically participated in by Brenda.

In his keynote speech, Mark Hoban MP, Minister for Employment, said, ‘I am impressed by the enthusiasm of Work Programme providers, who deliver the best service for its customers by using their expertise to get people into work’.
