Heather joined the Prospects team working in Wakefield last autumn, after taking her A levels at college.

Heather is completing her level 2 apprenticeship in customer service, which gives her the opportunity to apply her learning to hundreds of job roles across many different sectors. At Prospects in Wakefield Heather is the welcoming face of the organisation, working at reception and answering the telephone to clients who call into the Connexions service.

Doing an apprenticeship has given Heather a good balance of learning and working. She did not want to stay in full-time education and was eager to work, her apprenticeship gives her the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications with Prospects.

Being an apprentice can be daunting but at Prospects Heather feels she is treated fairly and supported by her manager, who is always willing to sit down and help, and ensure Heather has time to complete her assignment work.

Heather is hoping to use her apprenticeship to help her study in the future studies, and aims to complete a university degree in five years time.

Her manager, Jackie Crowther, is pleased Heather has joined her team and said:
“It’s very refreshing to have a young person working in the office. She is a very bubbly person, whose comments always make me smile. She is always ready to help staff where she can, and has been brilliant in supporting individuals to access online training and sort out outlook issues!”
