Go4it helps Jack* gain confidence
Jack’s* low self-esteem - caused by confusion about his sexual identity - prevented him from finding a career, but Go4it helped him gain the confidence and skills he needed to get a job.
Jack was a care leaver and found it difficult to fit in anywhere and make friends. His lack of confidence led to poor motivation when he was referred to Go4it, a Prospects run project helping teenage parents and care leavers across London through personalised support into education, employment and training.
programme supported Jack through a series of interventions, aimed at supporting him overcome his personal and professional barriers into work. His advisers improved his confidence and motivation using different methods, and signposted the relevant services within his area which could help him accept his sexual identity. They also helped Jack improve his employability through mentoring; advocating on his behalf; helping him improve his CV; providing a reference and supporting him in finding and securing suitable education, employment and training placements.
Thanks to Go4it, Jack feels more confident and accepting of who he is. Jack now has full-time employment at Primark and hopes to work in catering or horticulture.
