Careers Adviser interviewed on London radio station
Trudy Nieto, an Adviser for the National Careers Service in London, was recently interviewed for a ‘careers clinic’ on Share Radio, which broadcasts weekdays 11.00 – 14.00.
Share Radio is a relatively new independent radio station. The ‘careers clinic’ is included as part of its consumer issues programme, presented by Georgie Frost. The radio station asked the National Careers Service to provide an Adviser who could comment on the effect of the technological revolution on careers, and how we can ‘future proof’ our careers in light of this.
Georgie and Trudy discussed ‘up-skilling’ and identifying areas of development needed, either to enter a career or keep up with the developments within an industry, including training required and related funding. They also discussed social media and the value of an on-line presence in managing a person’s brand.
During the interview, Trudy promoted the benefits of using the National Careers Service in London, including its website, helpline and face-to-face service. She described the careers information, advice and guidance on the National Careers Service website and its features, including the CV builder, skills health check and job profiles section.
Trudy said: “My experience at Share was a friendly and open interview, where I had the chance to showcase the National Careers Service and how we encourage and equip individuals to take responsibility for managing their own careers. It was an excellent opportunity to explain the service in detail and advertise the tools available. We were invited to advertise future events within the careers clinic, and have developed a useful new contact within the media.”
