Prospects celebrates #GivingTuesday

02 December 2014

If you visit our head office today (Tuesday 2 December), you’ll notice that Prospects colleagues are looking more casual than usual as they are celebrating #GivingTuesday by ‘dressing down’ and donating to Save the Children Ebola Relief Fund for the privilege. Prospects will match fund the amount colleagues raise.

#GivingTuesday started in the United States in 2012 as an antidote to the festive shopping season, which is kicked off with Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. As more of these flash sales come to the UK, #GivingTuesday provides a remedy to the pressures of Christmas spending and gives an opportunity to help good causes. In the UK, the campaign is coordinated by The Charities Aid Foundation and Blackbaud.

Prospects colleagues chose to raise money for Save the Children Ebola Relief Fund to support Save the Children’s work in West Africa combating the largest Ebola outbreak in history. The fund aims to reach more than 3.5 million people. With no known cure and less than half of those infected expected to survive, Save the Children is working around the clock in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia to help stem the spread of the virus, help save more lives and protect orphans created as a result of Ebola.
