Prospects features in new report about public services
Prospects’ success as a prime contractor for the Work Programme in the South West has been included as a case study in a new report by the CBI - Confederation of British Industry
, the business lobbying group representing companies of all sizes including Prospects.
The report, entitled Our Future Public Services, argues that public services require fundamental reshaping to meet public needs better. The report also calls for a gradual switch away from high levels of welfare spending to policies which tackle underlying problems, including co-commissioning of health and employment services. It cites Prospects’ provision of the Work Programme in the South West as an example of good practice. As a prime contractor, our pioneering Ascent Programme has supported more than 20,000 people, moving many into employment, education or training.
Brenda Cabras, Prospects Director of Employment & Training, who attended the launch of the report, said: “It was good to see Prospects’ success featured in this report. We work closely with government and local authorities to help people, often in vulnerable positions, improve their life chances. I hope this report will encourage policymakers to work more closely with providers who can help shape the future of public services.”
