Prospects in the City - Square Mile Jobs launch
Prospects in the City held the launch of their new Square Mile Jobs project on Thursday last week. The event attracted delegates from charities, councils, job brokerages, universities and employers.
Attendees heard from Prospects in the City Manager, Katie Mawhinney, about what this exciting new project has to offer; Employment Adviser, Samantha Willsmore, about how Prospects in the City is linking with employers and Employment Engagement Adviser, Alex Cope, on how the referral process works.
The project was bought to life with a short film of the first City Walk held on the 2nd May, showing the first participants going on a tour of the City and being mentored by a City employer (http://goo.gl/tHlEU
This project is funded by the City of London Corporation and the London Councils' European Social Fund. Square Mile Jobs aim to place job seekers, aged 18 to 65 from the City's fringe boroughs (Camden, Islington, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Lambeth and Southwark) into sustainable employment within the City. People on the programme first spend time with Prospects in the City to develop their employability skills, introduce them to the City and fully prepare them for the expectations of employers.
