Sandwell Parent Partnership conference
Last month Sandwell Parent Partnership and Parent Voice held their annual parent/carer conference at the newly built Portway Lifestyle Centre in Oldbury, a facility designed for young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The conference was one of three events held in recent years to keep parents informed about developments in SEND reforms and Sandwell Parent Partnership’s response to implementing the local offer.
Councillor Simon Hackett, cabinet member for children and families opened the event.
Parents and carers engaged in discussion and consultation about the SEND reforms e.g. Sandwell’s local offer, personal budgets and Education, Health and Care Plans. Their feedback will shape strategic plans for Sandwell.
120 delegates attended the event, gathered information and spoke with representatives from service providers.
Entertainment was provided by pupils from Bristnall Hall school, who captivated the audience with their dancing.
Participants had the opportunity to attend various workshops in the afternoon including pampering, arts & crafts and a workshop specifically for fathers.
