#Prospects2014: Prospects becomes largest provider of the National Careers Service
In October this year
, Prospects began providing the new National Careers Service
contracts in four areas across the UK, three as prime contractor.
Earlier in the year
Prospects was told it had retained the London contract and also expanded its coverage to include provision of the service in South West and West Midlands, all as prime contractor. As part of the Careers Yorkshire and Humber consortium Prospects will also continue to provide the National Careers Service in South Yorkshire.
As the prime contractor, Prospects will also provide the In Custody element of the National Careers Service in its delivery areas and across the whole of Yorkshire and the Humber. This service helps offenders in the resettlement phase to prepare for release and supports them ‘through the gate’. This will include moving into training, learning and jobs, thus ending the reoffending cycle.
The National Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance for jobseekers and those in work aged 18 and older to manage their career and progress into learning, training and work opportunities. The new delivery model will continue to be provided by qualified careers advisers and will embrace digital technology alongside the familiar face to face service.
