#Prospects2014: Investing in our people and their diversity
2014 was an important year in relation to key quality accreditation. At the beginning of 2014 the company made the formal commitment to be an Investors in Diversity organisation. Our plan was an ambitious one as we wanted to achieve the kite mark by the end of the current financial year. Our assessor feels we have made good progress and confirmed in the summer that subject to the formal assessment we had achieved the award. This was a huge leap forward for us and built on a staff survey and a series of equalities and diversity roadshows across the organisation. Our formal assessment will take place in the New Year and our Quality and Business Improvement Team (QBIT) are busy preparing for the visit. Our work in Diversity is crucial to us as a business as it demonstrates our intention to make fairness for all a reality.
This year, Prospects partnered with the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability for the launch of Change100, an internship scheme for disabled university students. Change100 gave talented disabled university students the opportunity to go into paid internships at some of the UK’s leading companies and receive mentoring and guidance throughout their paid, three-month placement to support them to excel and thrive within the workplace. The scheme also supported businesses to become more confident about disability by giving advice and guidance about how to support employees with disabilities and long-term health conditions. At Prospects, our Intern quickly became part of the team and worked on a variety of important projects.
In June we were scored as a good in relation to our Merlin assessment which looks at how we support and manage our supply chains to deliver services.
In November following meetings with more than 100 staff across the company we heard that we had been re-accredited to Investors in People and retained our Silver level award. Our assessor was very positive about the commitment of our staff to deliver quality and creative services and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. This gives Prospects a good platform to review its work with all employees so that we can go for higher level awards and become an employer of first choice.
