Prospects pleased with fall in unemployment
Prospects, the education, employment and training company, has welcomed the news today (Wednesday 17 September) that during the last quarter employment continued to rise. According to the Office for National Statistics during May to July 2014, 73.0% of people aged from 16 to 64 were in work, up from 71.6% for a year earlier
. These new figures follow the general trend of increasing employment since late 2011. During the last quarter, the unemployment rate fell to 6.2% which is the lowest rate since 2008. In addition, the number of people claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance has decreased to fewer than a million for the first time since 2008.
