New high-flying Chief Executive for Shaw Trust
Shaw Trust attracts new Chief Executive
Shaw Trust is delighted to announce that Chris Luck will be joining as our new Chief Executive commencing in May. Chris is currently the CEO of the Defence Academy of the UK and the Commandant of the Joint Services Command and Staff College, with responsibility for the education of the future commanders and staff officers of all the armed services from the UK and many countries around the world.
Chair of the Board, Sir Kenneth Olisa, comments: "I feel deeply honoured to have been able to attract Chris to Shaw Trust. A review of his CV shows an outstanding candidate whose experience, expertise and clear sense of purpose, along with a deep understanding of the human condition, placed him at the top of the candidates list. Welfare services in the UK are undergoing a fundamental change as policies strive to catch up with the pressures to reduce costs while improving service delivery. At Shaw Trust we believe that the solution to this paradox lies with organisations like Shaw Trust, where a charitable heart and a commercial brain means that we will always prioritise people over income. Leading an organisation with a purpose to help transform a million lives a year by finding innovative world-leading ways of solving the paradox takes an exceptional person and we have found the qualities in Chris.”
Air Vice-Marshal Chris Luck MBE has served in the Forces for more than 35 years. Chris is a trustee with SkillForce Development, an educational charity working with six to 18 year olds using the skills of ex-Service Instructors. Previously he was with Freshtime Trust, a charity working with vulnerable children to achieve their potential, and of the International Bomber Command Memorial Centre in Lincolnshire.
Chris comments: “I have been deeply impressed by Shaw Trust’s work helping people from all walks of life and all ages. I feel somewhat humbled that the Trustees have concluded that my operational experience, charitable values, public service ethos and lived experience of welfare services qualify me for the top job. I am looking forward to working with Sir Kenneth, the board of Trustees and a strong top-management team to ensure that our 4,000 employees and 1,000 volunteers deliver our purpose.”
