National Careers Service Careers Coach takes to the Road
The National Careers Service delivered by Prospects, recently took to the road on a branded Careers Coach, bringing careers advice and labour market information to people throughout the south west. Joining careers advisers on the bus were local employers, training providers and a DJ who was promoting local vacancies.
The bus was kitted out with computers and iPads upstairs for advisers to give one to one advice and help with online job searching and applications, whilst downstairs employers and training providers talked to visitors about what their organisations had to offer.
The tour kicked off in Bristol, despite the cold and snow, attendance was good as members of the public came on board to chat about their careers aspirations and talk to local employer, Wilko, about their vacancies. During the week the bus visited Paignton, Plymouth, and finally Falmouth where Pirate FM joined the tour, offering the public the opportunity to ‘have a go’ working in their industry.
Local people from all walks of life came to discover more about labour market information in their town and region, learn more about apprenticeships, speak to employers and training providers about their opportunities and discover how to reach their career goals.
The bus is set to return to Minehead and Exeter at a later date to make up for the days it missed during the recent unseasonal cold snap.
