More success for Quality Award

Prospects Quality Award

On 6 July Michele Squire and Sue Thacker (Black Country Information Team) ran the latest in a series of Careers, Education, Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) events.

40 delegates, from schools, colleges, the Careers & Enterprise Company, local authorities and Prospects, attended the event at Portway Leisure Centre, Oldbury, which included support sessions and networking. Prospects education Resources exhibited its range of CEIAG resources. Jasbinder Bhoot, Prospects Operational Manager, spoke to delegates about how Prospects is inspiring the next generation of apprentices with school presentations, resources and other activities.

Delegates were also updated on the Careers and Enterprise Company’s progress as it starts to produce a coherent strategy for employer engagement and for improving careers provision. Sue and Michele also presented a round-up of news and views from the world of careers, including a well-received expert analysis of graduate employment and labour market information.

Michele and Sue are responsible for the Prospects Quality Award in CEIAG, and the Northern Accreditation Board met recently to confirm three new awards for schools. The Quality Award recognises excellent provision of CEIAG in schools and colleges. Outwood Academy Bydales, Outwood Academy City and Outwood Academy Ripon all achieved the award. Outwood Grange academy achieved Gold, the highest level of accreditation. The Midlands Accreditation Board revalidated Gold for Halesowen College, an institution that consistently offers the highest standards of careers. The meeting also confirmed a new award for Colmer’s School in Birmingham and invited the institution to apply for Gold within the next 12 months.
