High Flyer lands at Gabbitas Education
Gabbitas Education, the world’s oldest education consultancy, is delighted to announce the appointment of Vanessa Miner to the role of Managing Director.
With a substantive career in the media and communications industry, Miner moved into education in 2005 as a Director of Edge Foundation and became deeply involved in the development of new initiatives for studio schools, UTCs and the Academy Programme. She subsequently became a DfE advisor, working with new academy sponsors and emerging multi-academy trusts. More recently Miner combined working with academy groups, philanthropists and educational investors with non-executive director roles on a number of boards.
In 2008, Gabbitas Education became part of The Prospects Group who merged with The Shaw Trust Group at the end of last year.
“Vanessa has a very strong background in both the education and commercial sectors, having worked for the Department for Education, a number of multi academy trusts and being heavily involved in the creation of the Shaw Education Trust.” Says Roy O’Shaughnessy, CEO of the Shaw Trust Group. “Her appointment will be instrumental in achieving the Group’s ambition to transform lives both in the UK and overseas.”
Miner was educated at Clifton High School, a leading independent school in Bristol, and graduated from Warwick University. When asked about her new role, Miner says, “I am delighted to be joining Gabbitas Education at a time that digital disruption is rapidly evolving the education sector and creating some big opportunities in the market. Gabbitas Education has a rich heritage and with the support of the Shaw Trust Group is well placed for dynamic growth by harnessing the demand for excellent English education around the world.”
