Getting ready for the GDPR
On 25 May this year, data protection laws are changing. The Data Protection Act will be replaced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), bringing changes to the way every organisation processes and handles data and information.
At Optimus Education, part of the Prospects Group, we’re always talking to our school and academy members and we know it’s one of their main concerns. To help schools prepare for the GDPR and alleviate these concerns, we’ve been busy creating a range of resources, including webinars, articles and blogs, and running conferences.
Our GDPR for Schools Update: Practical Implementation event is taking place in March and we’re hosting a series of GDPR webinars to help schools prepare for the changes. Working with our partners and education lawyers Browne Jacobson, the next webinar on GDPR: how to ensure a culture of compliance takes place on 21 March.
Our hugely successful GDPR for Schools: Clarity & Compliance conference ran in London last November and Manchester in January. Following this, we collated the most popular queries from the event and put them to education lawyer Dai Durbridge in our GDPR: your questions answered blog, which proved to be our most popular in January.
We’ve also heard from one of our members, find out what they’re doing to ensure they’re compliant.
Next, we’re working on a training programme and updating our data protection model policy. With just over three months to go until the GDPR is implemented, the clock is ticking!
