Celebrating Youth Contract Success in London

Last night (Tuesday 8 September), Prospects hosted an event celebrating the success of the Youth Contract in London at the Tower Hotel overlooking one of London’s most iconic landmarks; Tower Bridge. The event was attended by local authorities, subcontractors, mentors and youth people all of whom helped make the Youth Contract a success in London.

The event provided an opportunity to discuss and recognise the successes shared on the Youth Contract, acknowledge the best working practices that have evolved and take forward learnings for future contracts benefitting young people across London.

Guests at the event heard from Judith Denyer, Prospects Operations Manager for Youth Contract, who praised everyone involved in delivery of the Youth Contract, saying: “Unlike the Welsh football team which has one star player – Gareth Bale – the London Youth Contract has involved a whole team of Gareth Bales. The young people who have taken part, our whole supply chain, the mentors, local authorities and London Councils, the Education Funding Agency and the Prospects Youth Contract team. I’m pleased to say that as of today nearly 5,000 young people from across the 32 London boroughs have taken part in the Youth Contract with 77% reaching a successful education, employment or learning outcome and 56% have sustained that outcome for six months.”

Guests also heard from Sandra White of Catalyst Housing, on the Youth Contract suppliers in London, who said “The support [Prospects] gave us and their honesty was refreshing and helped us move forward with what we need to do.” One of Sandra’s colleagues also spoke at the event about the things he had learnt from being involved with the Youth Contract, along one of the young people who had taken part in the Youth Contract and was supported by Catalyst Housing. In addition, Michael Kosmos from NXG Group also spoke about their experience as a part of the Youth Contract supply chain. Michael was also involved in  the video about the Youth Contract in London which was shown at the event and can be seen here.
