It has been a busy few months for the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) team, who granted the Award to 27 schools nationwide during Autumn Term 2012. LPPA provides a framework through which educational organisations can deliver effective parental engagement.
One school in particular, Amblecote Primary, has demonstrated how it is going from strength to strength since receiving the LPPA on 30th October 2012; it was recently announced that its on-site pre-school has received an 'Outstanding' grade in its latest Ofsted inspection.
LPPA is using its extensive experience of working in schools to add a new offering to their range of services. LPPA Advisers often hear teaching staff referring to 'harder to reach' parents and carers who, for a variety of reasons, find it difficult to engage with schools and support their children's learning outcomes and social development.
LPPA is, therefore, helping schools to 'reach a little further' by developing a new Award - 'LPPA Engage'-specifically designed to support schools to identify and work effectively with parents and carers who need additional help, and provide the school with impact evidence of the outcomes.
Working to achieve the Award will enable schools to target these parents, some of whom will be eligible for Pupil Premium funding. This recently increased 50% from last year, to £900 per pupil, and will address Ofsted's requirement to engage inclusively with all parents and carers.
