The impact of Prospects works can be seen in the way it helps customers transform their lives.
Harrow has been the highest performing borough in England against not in education, employment or training (NEET) and not known indicators for a number of years. However the Prospects team has reduced this further by instigating a number of innovative approaches designed to target those most in need of support.
Prospects has secured commissioned information, advice and guidance work in five Harrow schools since 2016, helping ensure destination and student data is exchanged in a timely manner supporting the tracking process. We work closely with the youth offending and looked after children services, regularly cooperating to ensure those whose destination is not known is reduced and those who are NEET are supported immediately, increasing the numbers who move into education, employment and training (EET). Similarly with looked after children, the introduction of the resilience compass mentoring programme ensures looked after children move into EET quicker and stay there for longer.
Community calling has had a profound effect on not known numbers. Young people not known to the service are located and this raising the profile of our services within the borough seeing a greater footfall of NEET young people in the Prospects centre and an increase in the NEET to EET performance as a result.
