Social Care and Special Needs - Adam's Crisis Pack Fundraising
Our young worker, Adam, has been working in the Gloucestershire Housing Team’s Inspire Project to help homeless young people.
Adam raised funds to provide Crisis Packs to give out free of charge to homeless young people who approach our service. The packs contain essential items so that a young person can keep clean over a weekend including underwear, deodorant, shampoo, soap, a small towel, hairbrush, toothbrush and toothpaste.
In conjunction with Gloucester charity The Bizz, Adam applied for grants to local organisations for support and funding. He asked other young people about what should be included in the packs, researched costs and put the packs together.
Thanks to Adam, the individual pack cost was reduced to approximately £12. During the ten weeks Adam worked for YST, the Bizz has received £837 towards the project and a donation of 30 tubes of toothpaste. As a result, we were able to give out packs at our locality offices, Gloucestershire Nightstop and in the Crash Pads. Fundraising will continue to ensure this project provides a worthwhile pack for someone at a critical point in their lives.
