Bexley Youth Advice (233, Broadway, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7EJ) was filled with young people, aged 16-25, yesterday (Tuesday 15 July) for an interactive exhibition providing information on education, employment and training opportunities.
The event was organised by Prospects, the education, employment and training company, which delivers a comprehensive range of careers, information, advice and guidance to young people on behalf of the London Borough of Bexley.
Young people who were unsure what they would be doing in September, had been out of education, training or employment or wanted information and advice on how to progress their career came along to meet employers, training and education providers.
Many young people secured places on courses at Bromley College, Hadlow College, Shooters Hill College, North West Kent College, Greenwich Community College and Theatre Street Performing Arts. Other young people who attended the event also signed up for apprenticeships with Middleton Murray, Skills for Growth and Flowerskills, pre-apprenticeships or the Youth Contract. Prospects Advisers provided on the spot help, support and advice to visitors. Other exhibitors included Reynolds and Charlton Athletic Community Trust.
John Taylor, Prospects Operations Manager, said:
“This has been a fantastic opportunity for local young people to meet employers, training and education providers. It was great that young people secured places on courses in colleges and apprenticeships. Thank you to the exhibitors who joined us, helping to make this event successful. We aimed to inspire young people and help them find a career that would suit them. Deciding on your future can be scary, but we’re here to help.”
Support is available from Bexley Youth Advice, throughout the year by dropping into the centre at 233 Broadway, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7EJ between 9:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively pre-booked appointments can be made by calling 020 3045 5555.
